Stone Fence

Chesnut colt by Exceed And Excel out of Ishitaki

Buenos días from Hadrian Stud! I was born on Wednesday, 7 March, 2018 in Newmarket but my mum is originally from Argentina. Her name is Ishitaki and she was a Champion racehorse in her home country, winning two Group 1 races, the highest level you can get. My dad comes from a far away land too, his name is Exceed And Excel, he’s a Darley stallion and was a Champion sprinter in Australia. My dad has had many other foals, some have been Champions like him while many others have won several Group 1 races. With parents as great as mine, you could say it’s in my blood to be a winner, maybe even a Champion myself one day!

With two globe-trotting parents, you could say world travel is in my genes and wow have I travelled since I last spoke to you. Just before Christmas, I moved to Victor Stud in Tipperary, Ireland. Here I spent lots of time with my friends playing in the field and even more time eating to build my strength.

But there was even more exciting news to come. I am going to start my racing career in Japan! I flew there in August 2019 and it is a very long way from Tipperary. I’m starting to settle into my new home and will begin learning to be a racehorse in the next few months. I still need to work on my Japanese but until next time, Jaa ne, which means ‘see you’!

Kon’nichiwa and greetings from Japan! After a little down time following my big move last August, I began to learn how to carry a saddle and rider before transferring to my new trainer Mizuki Takayanagi. He likes me quite a lot and thinks I’m pretty fast!

This year also saw me get my official name, Stone Fence, a strong name for a strong colt! I’ve already had two runs just missing out on a win in my first and finishing third next time out. My big sister Ickworth was a speedy two-year-old so keep an eye out for me burning up the track in the future!
