Sakura Petal

Chesnut filly by Dubawi out of Dancing Rain

Hello there! I was born at Rutland Stud, which is just outside Newmarket, on 5 March 2017. You can see me here with my mum, who is called Dancing Rain. She was an amazing racehorse and won the famous Epsom Oaks. My dad is one of the best stallions in the world, Dubawi. He lives just up the road at Dalham Hall Stud and I’m really hoping I can take after him – and Mum too – when I get old enough to start racing myself!

I am now officially one year old (and am now called a yearling) and have moved to White Lodge Stud. My days will be spent playing with the other yearling fillies in the paddock where we will grow big and strong.

I am second from the right in the photo below.

In the photo below I am saying hello to our stud groom Frank, who looks after us all very well!

Hello, a lot has happened in the past year. After leaving White Lodge Stud, I began my training to be a racehorse. I had to learn to carry a rider first, which I found very easy, and I was soon cantering happily. The pre-training people think I’m quite nice, hopefully I’ll be as good or even better than my older brother and sister Jalmoud and Magic Lily. They have both been placed in Group 1 races, which is the best type of race you can get. I’m with the same trainer Charlie Appleby as them so hopefully I can uphold the family honour and become a Group 1 horse too. I have been named Sakura Petal.

I ran in my second race on 27th June 2020 and I won! I didn’t have to travel far for the race as it was just down the road in Newmarket. My trainer was very pleased with me and I hope to progress onto better races this year.
